Waiting.

It's been a busy couple days. I work this evening, so I took a much needed morning to sit around. I caught up on several missed days in my Beth Moore bible study of David. Today's study was about all of Saul's downfalls as king of Israel. Beth discussed the importance of patience and waiting for the Lord, without taking matters into our own hands. Saul was impatient, he thought he knew better and disobeyed what the Lord had called him to do. And for Saul it was so easy..."wait 7 days" and he couldn't even do that. We aren't even given an allotted time frame to wait these days yet we are expected to wait on the Lord's plan . Waiting. I can think of every person close to me who is waiting on something. A job, a baby, a heart, a cure, a degree, a husband, a home . . .
Faith.
Trust.
Belive.
Wait.

Shit happens

LITERALLY! and that wouldn't be so bad if it didn't always happen to my Walgreens.
{Seriously}
When I received a call from my pharmacy at 10 am this morning, I laughed when they told me that the sewers had backed up and the front of the store had "water" everywhere. But by 11am it had been discovered that a water main broke which is what caused inches of sewage water to flood the store and now my pharmacy. (it about that time that my laughter subsided). As I sat in my PJs still while scrapbooking I looked at Ryan and said, "hmmm do you think I should go in?" I did. We closed the pharmacy down at 1:30 pm, went to Starbucks until 3:00 or so then went back so the cleaning company could be back in the pharmacy cleaning. As they tore up the carpet and cleaned, I continued to sell prescriptions in the drive thru while diverting all new Rx to other Walgreens (my customers loved that!) I finally left about 11:30 pm. I got home and raced to the shower. I smelled like, well, you know what! I'm not sure what will happen tomorrow but I'll be there at 7 am to find out! Seriously, though-when will the drama stop? okay, I may have said it before, but this time I mean it...{SERIOUSLY!}

I was flipping through my "5 focuses of 2005" album that I am working on and I noticed the following page. I thought to myself....that looks familar now. I then went to my friend Angela's blog to see her Thursday post from our scrapbook challenge. Now Angela has never seen this page as I just made it on 10/1/06....but I think it's absolutely hilarious how almost identical they are! It just goes to show how similar our scrap style is!

Afternoon of cornhole

Today was an absolute gorgeous day in San Antonio. It was sunny and crisp. About 69 degrees. William and Nancy stopped by the house. Will worked with me at the Blackhawk Walgreens and Nancy, his girlfriend is in Pharmacy at University of Incarnate Word (here in San Antonio). We enjoyed a friendly game of cornhole. Ry snapped this picture off right as he was getting ready to be tagged in the head by the incoming blue cornhole bag!
After Will and Nancy had to leave we chatted with our
neighbors Mike & Kasey and invited them for a game of cornhole. We played a couple games, first guys v. girls. Guys won. Next, Newcom's v. Porter's. Newcom's won. It was good times!
It's days like this that remind me how fun it is to relax, enjoy the company of others around me, and be thankful for all the Lord has given me.
Today, I am thankful for the beautiful world that our Father has given us to spend our days in, friends to share the many interests of our lives, Ryan's parents for the outdoor grill (that we cooked 2 of our 3 meals on today), for Ryan's improving health, and for our awesome new church family at River City.

Movie Review

Last night we visited with Tom and Natalie Aloia {former neighbors, formerly known as "our friends in Paris"}. They were in San Antonio for a weekend away, staying at The La Cantera. We all decided to go see an afternoon movie. We debated over Little Miss Sunshine and The Illusionist. To satisfy the men, we chose The Illusionist. It stars Edward Norton, one of our favorite actors (well, that is if we had favorite actors....he would be one of them!) We give this movie an enourmous two thumbs up. Natalie and I could not stop talking about it all night! Fabulous. {Seriously} you must go see this movie! It has been a long time since I enjoyed a movie as much!After the movie, we went to Paesano's restaurant for dinner. This was our first time at this restaurant (I had gone there with my mom and Shanna at the Riverwalk location a while back but this was the North location). It was a beautiful night and we sat outside and enjoyed a delicious dinner. This was Ryan's first meal in almost a week-he's doing much better! What a wonderful evening spent with great friends. I feel so blessed to have wonderful friends such and T&N!

(Embracing) IMPERFECTION

Angela and I now have a Thursday Scrapbook Challenge. Today's topic: Embracing Imperfection. As we are both a bit perfectionist, it's a good way to remind ourselves...{SERISOUSLY} I cannot be perfect.
And to display to my dear friend Angela, how SERIOUS I am about embracing my imperfection...my posting is 1 minute late. (the rule is to have it posted before midnight...and I even made that rule!)
{SERIOUSLY} Kelly!!

$50 isn't enough

Today, I joyfully went to the Starbucks conveinetly located next to my Walgreens, and ordered myself the usual: grande raspberry nonfat latte. My total $3.46. I could joyfully do this everyday. That would be $103.48 a month. Sadly enough, I am limited to $50 a month at the coffee establishment of my choice. Those non-coffee drinkers may say....$50 is a ridiculous amount to spend on coffe a month. To them I say, "It's so good, once it hits your lips!" Today's grande sized cup o' pleasure was the first I'd had since Thrusday of last week (blasphomy-I know). I must say, it did a great job of knocking me out of the intestinal bacteria/lack of food/Phenergan induced haze that I was in. How will I make the choice as to what 14.4 days of the month will get the pleasure of heaven in a cardbord sleeve?

Back from Mexico

Well, no one ever said that mission work was a walk in the park. This year's trip to Mexico proved that. The weather in Mexico was very hot and rainy everyday. Our clinics weren't as busy this year probably because of the rain. We saw about 80 patients on Friday and 50 or so on Saturday. The water and humidity brought out the mosquitos in full force. Everyone was getting eaten up all weekend. I would have felt great about the trip overall if it wasn't for getting sick on the way home. I started not to feel good on Sunday morning as we loaded the vans up to cross the border. By the time we got Brownsville, I knew that this was more than just the nausea of being in a crowded bus. It only got worse. I ended up throwing up along the next 100 miles of the trip. Finally the church bus took a detour to Corpus Christi so that Ryan could get a rental car to drive me home to San Antonio. Unfortunately, Ryan ended up getting sick yesterday too. But like the wonderful husband he is, he took care of me first. I attempted to go to work yesterday morning. I was there until the 11am RPh showed up then I went home.Scary thing is that I don't even remember being there. I came home and layed on the couch without moving until 7:30pm. Finally I got up and made some chicken soup for us to eat. That expended all my energy and I had to go lie down again. I woke up today at 8am and got ready for the day. I don't feel completely normal, but I'm getting better. I'm patiently waiting for this to wear off!
Here are a few pictures from our trip:
this is the church where we ran our clinic out of on Saturday.
It was probably about 15 x 20 with no
electricity and a mud floor.

[seriosomente]

My brain has started working en espanol. I was a bit dissappinted with my Spanish yesterday in our clinic. I was hoping I would be able to understand more but these Mexicans speak so fast...

We attended a prayer service at the church we are staying at last night. It was all in Spanish. I did feel like I could understand the majority of it....the word of God is amazingly universal. It was a very powerful experience.

I have successfully got two other women saying [seriously] all the time. It quite funny!

The Mexican food has bee fantastic. The spider staring me down while I was showering... Not so fantastic.

Gotta run before I lose my American signal!!

yo tengo frio

Did you know that I'm not
A fan of air conditioning? I am [seriously] cold on this bus!
I am however a [serious] fan of the BlackBerry!!
We are approaching the fabulous town of raymondville, Texas where we will stop for lunch! I've been studying some Spanish and rocking to Barlow girl on my inno.
Buenos tiempo!

Angela

Please pray for my dear friend Angela. She has just been told that she will need to go on the transplant list for a new heart. The way I see her heart, it couldn't be better....always in the right place, always pumping out love....but the doctors see it differently. This will not be her first new heart so unfortunately this is familar territory. Please surrond her in your prayers for the perfect heart to be found at the perfect time and that our Lord will comfort her and her husband Brian through this challenging time.
(p.s. this is her and I in my new scrapbook room in June)

Voy a la Mexico

Tomorrow, we are off to our Mission Trip to Matamoras Mexico. Ryan and I are excited for another great experience. It is true what they say......those who give-receive more than those who actually receive what is given. Last year was an eye opening experince about the happiness and peace the Mexicans in these villages experience. I fear that it will be even harder for me to go back to the demanding RIGHT NOW! WHY NOT? mentality of my current pharmacy clientel. Either way, I am in {SERIOUS} need for 4 days off. {SERIOUSLY!}
Please pray for no rain for us. This was the scene on the church van that brought us across the border last year. It was pouring down rain and the leaky ceiling left us {SERIOUSLY} wet. Please pray for the entire group's safety and that the Lord will use to do His good work.

I love productivity

Seriously love it. I had a very productive night. I cleaned, organized, and rearranged my scrap and work area. I have to say that it looks quite nice. In that process I prepared my supplies to start working on the 2006 SBR Christmas card collection. I did some laundry. I assembled a 12x12 file drawer (with no help from the hubby) that I got from the new Target at the Rim. Fabulous. Seriously, fabulous (the new Target that is...the file drawer is moderately fab).

Today I thank you Lord for:
*friends that buy you cute Seriously shirts
*the talent, time, and resources to scrap
*a relaxing weekend for me to rejuvinate

Another reason why I love my job....

and why I don't watch the local news.

{SERIOUSLY!!}

No one cares what I had for lunch

....but if you are curious, I'm currently snacking on M&Ms and Cherry Limeade.
So, this is my blog, a serious look into the inter-workings of my mind. You will, of course, have to accept that sentence structure is a weakness of mine (according to my employer, Walgreens) and that I may be too intense for your reading pleasure.
Today, I'm full of sarcastic humor. It's a good day. I awoke feeling great, had a great time at church, shopped a bit afterwards (always fun for me....except not nearly as much fun now that I had my credit card taken away-more on that later). Since our return home, I have been been in my favorite place, the SBR. I have completed 7 pages since yesterday afternoon and that thrills me. I've posted my favorite page of my latest creations. I love it because I can look at it and remember all that the Lord has made me to be even though He has not
made me a mother. And really, let me just give a big shout out to Him right now for that........I get to sleep through the night and do whatever I please....."HALLA....ULIA". Okay, maybe that's not as funny typed out as it was in my head.
