Back from Mexico

Well, no one ever said that mission work was a walk in the park. This year's trip to Mexico proved that. The weather in Mexico was very hot and rainy everyday. Our clinics weren't as busy this year probably because of the rain. We saw about 80 patients on Friday and 50 or so on Saturday. The water and humidity brought out the mosquitos in full force. Everyone was getting eaten up all weekend. I would have felt great about the trip overall if it wasn't for getting sick on the way home. I started not to feel good on Sunday morning as we loaded the vans up to cross the border. By the time we got Brownsville, I knew that this was more than just the nausea of being in a crowded bus. It only got worse. I ended up throwing up along the next 100 miles of the trip. Finally the church bus took a detour to Corpus Christi so that Ryan could get a rental car to drive me home to San Antonio. Unfortunately, Ryan ended up getting sick yesterday too. But like the wonderful husband he is, he took care of me first. I attempted to go to work yesterday morning. I was there until the 11am RPh showed up then I went home.Scary thing is that I don't even remember being there. I came home and layed on the couch without moving until 7:30pm. Finally I got up and made some chicken soup for us to eat. That expended all my energy and I had to go lie down again. I woke up today at 8am and got ready for the day. I don't feel completely normal, but I'm getting better. I'm patiently waiting for this to wear off!
Here are a few pictures from our trip:
this is the church where we ran our clinic out of on Saturday.
It was probably about 15 x 20 with no
electricity and a mud floor.
